Dear Harbour Community,
Our exciting new refuge project is well underway with a planned operational live date of 1st July 2026. Unsurprisingly with our wonderfully efficient Laura as Project Manager, the project is hitting all our projected milestones. We welcome new staff members in 2025/26, Debra, Briony, Amber and Mandy and farewell Noumsy, Rhi and Freya. We received two generous donations to use new programs and services which we will launch this year. One is to support children’s counselling and the other to add a new Outreach service. We enjoyed a wonderful event during the 16 Days awareness campaign by celebrating and acknowledging front line workers with our community partners and agencies. It was such a well attended and unique event and by popular demand we will organize as an annual event. As usual we have been well supported by our community at our annual events of Christmas and Easter and inundated with gifts, eggs and treats. We thank you all because we could not do what we do without YOU. Ali |

Christmas 2025 at Harbour Refuge & Support Services Christmas is always a busy time at Harbour. While it can be a challenging season for many of the women and children we support and a time when our service is stretched it is also when our community shows incredible generosity. Each year, individuals and businesses come together to donate food, even baked hams, gifts, toys, homewares and thoughtful handmade items. These contributions allow us to provide meaningful support to families staying in refuge and those we assist in the community. We also host a special morning Children’s Christmas Party, with Mrs. Claus visiting and gifts available for clients to choose for their families often helping tick off a few Santa wish lists along the way. This year the face painter was very popular, and the ice-cream truck went down a treat. It is a joyful day and a time when we do our very best to ensure every woman and child feels supported, valued and remembered. Below we have a some of the business or community groups that made contributions.

| Our community and workplace food donations throughout the year make an incredible difference to the women and families we support. When clients are doing it tough financially, these donations help stretch weekly budgets, provide a boosted grocery shop during particularly challenging times, or support special family events that might otherwise be out of reach. They also give our advocates a practical and caring way to check in, with the gift of food or essential toiletries offering both relief and reassurance. This generosity allows us to respond with dignity, compassion, and timely support when it’s needed most. |

Operation Sunshine WA
Operation Sunshine WA is a volunteer run charity helping women and children displaced by family and domestic violence and/or under the care of child protection services in Western Australia.
Many women and children are displaced in traumatic circumstances with no more than the clothes on their backs. They need our help to ensure they have the essential and comfort items needed to provide for their day to day needs and give them a sense of dignity in a time of crisis.
Sunshine Packs support children and young people entering out-of-home care or crisis accommodation across Western Australia. Each pack is thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, preserve dignity, and sho

This year’s 16 Days of Activism was a busy and meaningful campaign for Harbour Refuge & Support Services. Like many not-for-profits, we operate with a small team, so the strong support from our community made a real difference. We were encouraged to see companies, workplaces, local gyms and community members giving their time, raising awareness, donating goods and standing in support of women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.
We also hosted a collaborative event to acknowledge our front-line workers and agencies or people who have been impacted by family domestic violence. This was the first one and we look forward to next year it was a morning reflection and a time to gather together. We collaborated with Milligan, South West Women’s Aboriginal Collective. Thanks to everyone that contributed and came on the day.

South32 Worsley generously hosted a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Bunbury for us during the 16 Days of Activism. This was an incredible effort from the 16 volunteers and staff who helped on the day. Not only did they cook the sausages, but they also sponsored the goods with $1000 gift card needed for the event. With our small team at Harbour, this was a fantastic example of how community support can make a big difference. Together, we raised around $3,500. South32 Worsley also went above and beyond by running toiletries drive in the workplace and donating the proceeds from Containers for Change, showing their ongoing commitment to supporting women and children escaping domestic violence.

Mindfulness & Wellness: Caring for Ourselves, Strengthening Our Community Mindfulness and wellness are not just individual practices — they play an important role in building strong, connected communities. When we take time to care for our own wellbeing, we are better able to support those around us with empathy, patience, and understanding. Simple strategies such as checking in with ourselves, taking regular breaks, staying connected with others, and asking for support when needed can help reduce stress and prevent burnout. These everyday acts of self-care create a ripple effect, supporting healthier relationships and safer communities. |
